Wish I Never Bought It!! #2 Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I haven't done one of these posts in forever but I think this product deserves one. I had such high hopes for the Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance after hearing so many rave reviews. Unfortunately I was left really disappointed by this product. Back in June I purchased the Look Of Love makeup set which included the eyeshadow primer as part of the set. I bought Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion (new packaging) at the same time which I'm a big fan of.

Using eyeshadow primers is a big part of my everyday makeup routine as I have quite oily eyelids. If I don't use a primer, my eyeshadow is going to be gone/badly creased by the end of the day. When I bought Eyeshadow Insurance I thought it was going to give Urban Decay's Primer potion a run for it's money.  Not a chance! I found it's consistency to be a big let down, for some reason it was very watery. The product just sits on my eyelid and takes forever to blend in, which I really don't need if I'm in a hurry. I've only used this a handful of times since I bought it, which shows just how unimpressed I was by the results.

For the price, €19.70 I don't think I'll be purchasing this again. Perhaps it was a part of a bad patch, but I have my doubts. If you were going to buy a eyeshadow primer I'd recommend the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Not only is this my favourite product it's also cheaper (€17.30).

What's your favourite eyeshadow primer? Did anyone have the same problem with Eyeshadow Insurance?

  2. I totally agree. I'm a massive fan of UD anyway but their primer potion beats shadow insurance hands down!

  4. @Christine I think for the price it is the quality could be much better! I'm love UD eyeshadow primer potion, my favourite by far! I've never used Elf's offering, what's it like?

@Bon Vivant Clique I'm such a big fan of UD too!! I wasn't blown away by Shadow Insurance at all.. very disappointing!

@Georgia: On My Mind I dunno, maybe I got a bad patch or something. My Shadow Insurance was so watery, and it wouldn't blend, was left really unhappy with it!

  5. My favourite is Bare Minerals, the primer shadows are great and they don't budge, best thing is you can use them as a shadow alone, or layer with the powder shadows
I have UDPP but find the applicator too big for my lower lash line so tend to have to faff with a brush
