My Current Eye Makeup Removers

After ditching face wipes a while ago, I've been trying alot of different eye makeup removers. Some have been great and others not so much which is the case with just about any product I guess. I have quite sensitive eyes, they've been watering so much at the moment, resulting in my makeup looking a complete mess. The thing that aggravates my peepers the most is when other people do my makeup. Last week I was at a Tom Ford counter looking around at their products, which are unbelievably expensive but I would love to add one of their eyeshadow palette to my collection. One of the makeup artists said I had such lovely long lashes and did I want to try their mascara, I really should of said no. I came away from the counter with my eyes looking scarily blood shot and watering. I met my boyfriend outside and he had to get me tissues from Centra, embarrassing I know. I don't know how my eyes have become so sensitive all of a sudden as this has never been the case before now. I think maybe it started back when I was using face wipes, I'm not too sure if they would have a major effect on my eyes like this though. When I'm out looking for a eye makeup remover in stores I always go for ones that are marketed towards people with sensitive eyes.

I've been using two for the past while and I thought I'd tell you my thoughts. Both products are for sensitive eyes and they have dual action formulas, meaning you have to shake them up before you use them. First up is No7's Beautiful Skin Eye Makeup Remover, it must be said their products can be a bit hit and miss at times. I bought some bit from their skincare range back when they launched their new packaging and I didn't get on with the products at all. I ended up giving the day/night moisturiser to my Sister liked it, so at least it made someone happy. I must admit I don't particularly like the new eye makeup remover packaging, the old one came with a pump so I didn't feel as if I was wasting any product. With this bottle, there's no dispenser so you literally have to pour it on to a cotton pad. This is fine with me, but you end up losing so much product as the opening is huge. I really don't see why they didn't include a pump, it was needed. When I'm rushing home from work to go on a night, I always remove my makeup and redo it, with this eye makeup remover I feel like I've used up so much after doing this. That said the product itself removes eye makeup really well, but as it is a dual action product it does leave that oily film on your skin after use which takes for ages to sink in. If your in a rush and need to do your makeup in a hurry this isn't something you need. With the nifty No7 vouchers, this product comes to around the €4/€5 which isn't the worst for this size eye makeup remover, I just wish it came with a pump it would be so much easier to use. I will be using this up but I won't be repurchasing it again I'm afraid. My favourite of the two is Vichy's Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover for sensitive eyes*. I'm lucky to have tried alot of amazing bits from this brand and I've never been left disappointed. Their waterproof eye makeup remover removes even the most stubborn mascara, indeed I'm talking about Benefit's They're Real. That mascara is amazing, but boy is it a nightmare to get off your lashes. As this is a bi-phase formula, you shake it to activate the ingredients. Vichy is a brand that has alot of scientific research behind their range, this is the brands first waterproof eye makeup remover that limits the loss of eyelashes. The product opening is much smaller so I don't feel at all wasteful with this one. This one doesn't leave your eyelids feeling oily so you can apply your eye makeup right away. The Vichy offering may be a little bit on the pricey side at €13.50 but you do get 50mls more. I'm nearly all out of mine unfortunately, I can see myself popping into the shops on pay day next week and picking up another.

Have you tried any products from these brands?

Vichy and Nuxe Events

This post is coming a little late, I've been so busy over the last week but finally here it is. Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to two beauty events in town. The weather was dreadful on the day but it didn't take away from the fun us bloggers had. I brought my friend Helen along to the Vichy event. She's not a blogger but I'm hoping she does a guest post or two in the future so keep an eye out for them. We met up with the girls from Make-Up Anonymous in Temple Bar beforehand and we all headed into the event together. Vichy were unveiling their lovely new skincare range, Idealia. I'm a really big fan of this brand already so I couldn't wait to hear a little bit more about their new products. The new range consists of the Idealia Pro serum (€34.50) and Smoothing and Illuminating Cream (€26.00). Both products are said to target dark spots and skin imperfections resulting in healthy looking with a more even skintone and texture. There is a vast amount of research behind the range so I have very high expectations already. Idealia skincare will be available in September, I know it's a bit away but it will worth the wait I'm sure. Towards the end of the event we went out on the balcony where we were all given a balloon and a piece of paper to write are wish for the future. I'm not going to say what mine was in case it doesn't come true. It was such a nice ending to the event, even Helen got a bit emotional.

The Temple Bar Gallery was the perfect venue, Helen and I had never been before and it was really nice. The event was held on the top floor and the room was decorated beautifully. There was a photobooth so of course we couldn't leave without taking pictures could we?

I was really exciting to attend the second event of the day which was for Nuxe's Huile Prodigieuse 20th Anniversary. I've heard such amazing things about this multi purpose dry oil, so I'm looking forward to trying it. The venue for the event was the gorgeous Mezz bar in Samsara. Nuxe chose such an amazing location and it couldn't have been better. The decor was gorgeous with chandelier hanging from the ceiling and gold glitter, WOW is the only word I could use to describe it maybe the photos below will give you a better picture of what the venue was like. I haven't tried much from Nuxe, only their Reve de Miel lip balm which is nothing short of amazing, if you suffer from dry lips like me I'd definitely recommend it. It was nice to see some of the other products that the brand had to offer for Summer, their bronzers definitely caught my eye. The day after the event I broke my Manchester spending ban and bought Nuxe's Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream. After trying it at the event I couldn't resist it leaves your hands lovely and soft without being sticky. Keep your eye out for my June Favourite you may see this gem in it.

It was so nice to see all the Irish bloggers at the event that I hadn't seen in ages, there was also some new faces too. It was so nice chatting to everyone, the Irish Beauty community are such a lovely bunch.

An Essential from Vichy (plus free gift with purchase)

Everybody likes a free gift with purchase now and again, I know I do. A few days ago I ran out of my Vichy Calming Cleansing Micellar Solution, at €14.75 for 400ml you really can't go wrong. They do have a option for oily skin but I found that it stung my eyes a little so I started using this alternative. This size bottle lasted for about a month and a half which wasn't bad going. I like how it comes with a pump as it's much easier to dispense the product. I use two pumps on four cotton pads to cleanse and remove my makeup at night. This micellar solution works really well and doesn't leave me with any redness which I find makeup wipes can sometimes.

As soon as I finished my last bottle, I popped into a shop to buy a new one. While I was there I saw that there was a free gift with purchase when you spent €25. I was already spending €14.75 on the Micellar Solution so I only needed to add a bit more than €10. There's one thing I dislike about free gifts, I always seem to buy stuff for the sake of buying it. After shopping around the stand, I finally decided on something I'd actually use, Vichy's Dermablend Setting Powder. I went to a Vichy event a bit over a month ago and I heard such great things about this powder, it's supposed to work great with their corrective foundations. I'm not too sure how this will work with other foundations but I'll put it to the test.

.
Here's the lovely free gift I got, four miniature products all in a gorgeous little bag. It's the perfect size for my makeup when I'm travelling as I can see everything inside. The selection of minis are great too, included was Capital Soleil sunscreen, Aqualia Thermal Rich Moisturiser, Calming Micellar Solution and Eau Thermal Spray. Everything you get in the gift set is great, if your person who hasn't tried much products from the brand it's definitely something to look out for. These are available while stocks last and I can see them going pretty quick indeed.

What Vichy products have you tried??

Vichy Loves Bloggers Event

Yesterday I was invited to the Vichy Loves Blogger event in Styne House. After getting lost a few times, I finally found my way to the event, early as always. The room was done up lovely, showing a selection of Vichy's skincare and their makeup.

As I was a tad bit early, I got my skin health consultation done, where I was told I had combination (more on the oily side) skin. I was surprised to see my skins hydration level was 89%, with 75% being the normal amount. The VichyConsult Tool was able tell that the Normaderm and Aqualia range would be best suited for me. Isn't it crazy how much technology is coming on that a machine can you tell you this? Vichy has a big range of foundation, there's definitely something suitable for every skin type. The lovely Make Up artist on hand suggested that for oily skin I use the Dermablend and Normateint foundation. Normateint is said to give light, even coverage which is great for daytime, while Dermablend is a high coverage foundation. I was also told that the Dermablend Ultra Corrective Foundation Cream Stick is great for contouring, if you use one a shade or two darker.

After a little chat with some lovely bloggers, we all sat down to see a presentation about Vichy. I found this very interesting as it showed you all their products on a timeline, from when the brand was founded back in 1931 to present. Vichy has grown so much in eighty years. The two products that were much talked about at the event were the newly formulated Dermablend Corrective foundation which now gives 16 hour coverage and the Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care.

When the event was over, we were given skincare gift packs that were tailored made to suit our skin types.
I really enjoyed this event, it was so informative and I certainly learned alot more about the brand. I'm going to do a reviews on these products as soon as I've used them for a while. I'm really curious to see what the Dermablend Corrective Foundation is like as I've heard so much about it.
