The Lo Down - Nyx Strobe of Genius Palette

Hey Guys and Dolls,

The other palette Daragh picked me up last week is the NYX Strobe of Genius palette and god it's a beauty. Boy I think I'm in love! Like the Sweet Cheeks palette I wanted this for a while now and I'm so happy he got it for me, he really is the best boyfriend I could ask for. I'm very much into getting that beautiful everyday glow and this palette does just that, I've been using it quite a bit since I got it off Daragh I'm not going to lie.
This palette is multi purpose which is good aswell, I've not just been using this a highlighter palette but as eyeshadows too. They work perfectly as both and I seriously can't get enough of this palette. For the price in and around €21 you can't go wrong as you get 7 shades that are so pigmented and they are all so wearable too. I've been using the shade in the bottom left hand corner the most and it just gives a beautiful natural glow that would be perfect all year round.

NYX Cosmetics are definitely my favourite budget brand at the moment, other budget brands will have to take note as they are killing it right now. I already have my eye on other products from the brand that I will probably pick up on payday so watch this space for sure.

The Lo Down - My Journey to being more Positive

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Being positive, some people find it so easy to be just that while others find it almost impossible. I was the latter three years ago, I was so negative no one could say anything to me without me having a little hissy fit. It was during my bad mental health stage and most of the time I wanted to spend time on my own which of course wasn't the solution either.  I was beyond down and no one could bring me out of my rut at the time.
Fast forward three years and I'm in a much better place right now. I'm happy, I'm doing exactly what I what I want to do in life, I'm going out with a boy that seriously is my everything and things are just going well in general. It wasn't all that easy to get to this stage I'm telling you, it took hard work and determination on my part. Of course I had alot of support aswell from my family, friends and mental health professionals which was definitely needed.

So how did I become so positive you may ask? Mindfulness helped alot, I'm not going to lie it wasn't for me to begin with. I didn't like it at all and I dreaded going to be my classes but once you get into it it's really helpful. It's all about living in the moment which I don't think we do quite enough at all. I feel much more relaxed when I practice Mindfulness if you can't find a class near you, there's always really good books you can get on it aswell. Next I think it is really important to have like minded positive people around you. When I was being really negative I noticed that a good few of my friends didn't want to be around me which was hard I must admit but I totally understand why now. People don't like when you are negative as it does but a downer on everyone elses day which isn't fair in the slightest. Once I started being positive again all those friends came back and we're way happier to see me back to my old self. So I feel it's really good to be around positive people as nothing beats those positive vibes.

I think it's also really important to do regular activites, if I was sitting around the house all day I would just get more and more inside myself. To beat that I decided to make plans for everyday be it go out for a short walk or hang out with my close friends, both these things for me made such a difference to my life. I also found reading a good book helped me alot. If you sit down with a good book I automatically think you feel happier and you have something to talk to your friends about when you seen them. I think Ruby Wax books are really good. She's an amazing mental health advocate and I found her books interesting as well as really informative.

All in all I feel alot more positive over the past few years it definitely took time and effort but I got there in the end and I'm definitely feeling alot happier which is always a plus.

The Lo Down - Prison Break is Back!!

Hey Guys and Dolls,

One of my favourite shows growing up in my teens was Prison Break. It was just so good, it ended a couple of years ago after 4 seasons and I was pretty disappointed to say the least. I was really happy to hear earlier in the year that the show was coming back for a fifth season. It started on Fox in Ireland last Monday and of course I had to watch it.
The new season focuses around Michael Schofield. Is he still alive? Sarah has remarried and Lincoln has learned from Teabag that Michael might possibly be alive. Teabag got sent a picture of Michael so could it be true. I'm not going to go too much into it as I'm sure you guys will want to watch it for yourself. I really enjoyed the first episode, sometime when a show is brought out again they tend to ruin it but this time around they definitely didn't. I can't wait to watch some more this week.

The Lo Down - My Marathon Running Experience

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Seeing as I'm into my weightloss and fitness journey I thought I'd tell you about my Marathon Running Experience. I've talked about it a bit in past posts but not too much and not in a long time. When I lost weight the last time I decided to get into running and I really enjoyed it.
I competed in three 10km, 2 Women's Mini Marathons and the Samsung Night Run. The latter was definitely my favourite run, it was so amazing running around Dublin City at night and the atmosphere was great. The medal for that run definitely stands out aswell. I ran one of the Women's Mini Marathons for one of Ireland's leading newspapers, The Herald to be exact so that was something different.

I definitely want to get back into running again. There's nothing better than the sense of achievement when you cross the finish line. I finished all my runs in and around the hour mark which made me so happy. I also love my medals alot, there so pretty and I display them in my room with pride.

The Lo Down - Catrice Aqua Ink In Gloss Lip Stain

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I like a good lip product I think they completely change a makeup look. I recently got the chance to try the Catrice Aqua Ink in Gloss Lip Stain. The shade I got to try is Pink Waterfall Swoo-Hoosh, which is a gorgeous pink fuschia pink shade.
Catrice is a budget brand I love, all their products are so affordable. My favourite products have to be their foundations. Back to the lip products, this lip stain is so pigmented and looks really pretty on the lips. It smells amazing too, it has a lovely sweet scent. I really like the packaging on this product it looks so sleek. All in all I really like this product, I feel all the products from Catrice's Spring collection is on point.

The Lo Down - I'm Going Back to College!

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Yes you read it right I'm heading back to college. My course starts next week so I'm very excited indeed. The course I'm enrolling in is a Diploma in Social Media For Business which I'm very much interested in right now. Social Media is a big deal for me with my blog and what not which means I use it quite a bit in my day to day life. I only heard that I got a place in the course today and I start on Monday so things are moving pretty quick.
I really enjoy the college life to be honest, I like the lifestyle and learning new things. I don't think you can be ever too educated and new things come out all the time so there's always stuff to learn. I'm going pick up some bits and pieces over the weekend, notebooks, backpack etc, I actually saw a really nice bag in Penneys/Primark today so I'm going to get that over the weekend. You may definitely see a haul post of all my college stuff over the weekend.

This course is right up my street and I feel like I have so much to learn from it. It will help my blog alot in the long run aswell I think. I'm really looking forward to meeting some new people aswell. Basically the course in a nutshell is to understand how social media can be practically, proactively and constructively used as a viable business mechanism which sounds very interesting. It will definitely help that I have my social media platforms active already.

So yeah college life is going to start on Monday and I'll definitely keep you guys posted on how I'm getting on and what I think of the course itself.

The Lo Down - My Life as a Blogger

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I've been blogging almost 6 years now and I love my little part of the internet lots. My blog as you all know by now is called All-Made-Up-21. I named it that as I like nothing more than being all made up and I started my blog when I was 21 years old which seems like a while ago now.
My life has changed alot since I started blogging, first off I've met some amazing people while blogging and I'm now happy to call them my good friends. I've also gotten lots of great opportunities like going to product launches, landing amazing internships and liasing with press officers.

I've gotten the opportunity to work in Market Match PR and The Fragrance Shop Head Office in Manchester. Both were wonderful experiences and I'd definitely recommend anyone to give it a go. I learnt alot during the weeks I work in both office.

I also enjoy going to events and meeting up with fellow bloggers and learning about new and exciting launches. Life couldn't be better right now, I think blogging has really helped me with my fight against mental health problems and for that I'll always be grateful.

Lastly all of you readers mean the world to me. I'm glad you enjoy reading my blog and I hope you take something from it. If any of you ever want to start your own blog yourself, definitely feel free to contact me and I'll give you the best advice I can.

The Lo Down - How I met my Boyfriend!

Hey Guys and Dolls,

As you all know I have an amazing boyfriend named Daragh, he's like my best friend and I don't know what I'd do without him most of the time. I don't think I ever told you guys how we met so I thought I'd do a post to tell you all. So let's go back to the beginning.
In 2014 my ex boyfriend and I decided to call it quits on our 6 year relationship. Lots was going on and we both thought it was for the best. I think you all know by now I didn't have the best of times after this as you have probably seen documented on my blog already. Let's just say I felt very alone for a while. Of course I had my friends but I missed having a boyfriend, I guess I'm a relationship kind of gal.

I was single for 2 years after that. I did go on a odd date here and there, that's exactly what they were odd! I met the guys on Tinder which is an app if  I'm completely honest I wasn't too keen on to start with considering some of the messages I got and I bet you can guess what they said. So yeah Tinder definitely wasn't my favourite app in the world, don't get me wrong I did meet some nice guys here and there but nobody I would have wanted to get in a relationship with to be fair.

In February last year I started talking to Daragh. I started the conversation and we got talking. I instantly realised how different he was to the other guys I had been talking to previously. We just clicked and spent alot of time talking to each other. We had some stuff in common which was nice aswell. Both of us have a keen interest in football and love travelling.

Unfortunately Daragh and I didn't meet up that soon after we started talking so after a while I started seeing someone else. Out of the blue one day I got a call from a number I didn't recognise and it was Daragh of all people. I'm not going to lie I was completely surprised. We chatted for a while but of course I had to tell him I was seeing somebody and I could hear the disappointment in his voice. So we said our goodbyes and that was that for a while that is. A couple of weeks later my relationship finished before it really got started if I can say that. I saw it coming and to be honest that particular relationship wasn't really for me at that time.

Daragh and I started talking again soon after and he asked me out on a date. I was really excited as we both had started talking to each other in February and it was now June so I was surprised he even remember me but he did. We decided to meet up and go to The Living Room which is a bar in the City Centre in Dublin. I'm not going to lie I was pretty nervous and I think Daragh was aswell. I was after coming from a makeup course that evening so I had the brightest pink eyeshadow on so I don't think that helped the nerves either.

We met up at the spire and had a couple of drinks in The Living Room. It was such a good night and both of us enjoyed as we were talking to each other for so long previous to meeting up it was like we already knew each other in a way. Daragh walked me to my bus stop and ran for his train but before he went he said he'd love to bring me out again and I said I'd love to.

Our second date was going to a Dublin Gaelic game. Yes Daragh is a bit GAA mad he loves going to the games in Croke Park. I'd never been before but I really enjoyed myself and the atmosphere was amazing. I'd watched Gaelic on the telly before so I knew the rules and how the game itself was played. Dublin won so we were both happy and we went for a few drinks afterwards.

After our fourth date which was watching the Euro 2016 matches, Daragh asked me to be his girlfriend and of course I said Yes. Over the last few dates he had made me so happy. We can actually talk for Ireland so when we're together we talk and when I go home we have like hour long phone calls I seriously don't know how we keep the conversation going sometimes.

Fast forward 10 months and Daragh & I are still going out and extremely happy together. We have started to plan stuff for the Summer so I can't wait for a bit of an adventure. We also booked our tickets to see Damien Dempsey in the Iveagh Gardens in July so that's definitely something to lookm forward to.

So yeah my boyfriend and I met on Tinder so it definitely can work for some people. You just have to find your prince surrounded by frogs in my opinion. There can be some odd ones on that app so again just stay safe. I'm so happy I met Daragh and I really hope we go out for a long time to come.

The Lo Down - Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Concealer

Hey Guys and Dolls,

My favourite foundation when I was younger was the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. It was always so affordable and such a nice foundation. It was recently reformulated and repackaged so I was looking forward to seeing what it was like as I loved the original alot.
The latest version really lives up to my expectations. First off I love the packaging it's so sleek and pretty. I decided to buy both the foundation and concealer. I bought the latter in light and foundation in Vanilla which are the perfect match for my skin tone. I usually go for the shade Vanilla in most brands as I am on the pale side of things.

The formulation is very similar to the original and it smells amazing and looks lovely on your skin giving it a nice healthy glow. I bought these two products on Cloud 10 Beauty's website. My favourite site for buying all my beauty products. They were actually on discount when I purchased them and I think they still are. I got the foundation for €8.95 and the concealer for €6.95 which is really good value so I'd snap them up while you can.

I almost like the newer version more than the old one, sometimes relaunches can let you down but these products certainly didn't.

The Lo Down - Pixi & Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I haven't tried much products from Pixi Beauty. I have tried their star product though, the Pixi Glow Tonic which I reviewed here and it was amazing. I can definitely see a big difference in my skin since I started using it.
Their latest launch is a collaboration with Caroline Hirons (skincare queen) and it's called Double Cleanse. I haven't tried products that specifically double cleanse so I was looking forward to trying this. First off this product comes in a jar and it's pretty big aswell (100ml) which is a good thing.

On one side you have your Solid Cleaning Oil and on the other you have their Cleansing Cream. I love love love this product you only need the tiniest bit and it removes your makeup plus leaves your skin soft and fresh. What more could you ask for.

The Double Cleanse comes in at €30.95 but I guarantee you it's great and you'll get lots of use out of it. I bought mine on Cloud 10 Beauty's website, they usually have offers on so I'd certainly keep an eye out for them. I'm really looking forward to trying more Pixi Skincare products.

The Lo Down - My New Glasses

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Last week I got my eyes tested for the first time in years. I wear glasses but I don't wear them too much to be honest, just for reading mainly. After I got my eyes tested I was told I needed two pairs, one for reading and one for looking. I had a feeling my eyesight was after getting a bit worse as when I'm watching the football I can hardly see the score of the match and always have to ask Daragh to tell me what it is which can be annoying at times I'm not going to lie. I don't mind wearing glasses that much though as they suit me I think.
I really like the two pairs I went for. One is Specsavers own brand and the other are Puma. The latter were on sale so of course I snatched them up. If they were full price they would of been €129 which is a bit to steep for me at the moment. My reading ones are the glasses pictures below, they are probably my favourite. I really like glasses that have big frames as I feel they suit my face alot more.
The other pair for looking are going to be used for watching the telly and for driving when I eventually learn how to drive that is. They are from Puma and they look alot more sporty I think. I really like the frames on these aswell there something different I guess. I much prefer both these glasses to my old ones they look alot nicer.

As I need my glasses more now to see a little better I'll probably be wearing these alot now. This doesn't bother me at all cause I'm really happy with the ones I chose, I bought them in Specsavers in case you were wondering.

The Lo Down - La Roche Posay Micellar Water Ultra

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I use alot of cleansing waters as I prefer them to wipes ten times over. Lately I've been testing out the La Roche Posay Micellar Waters Ultra and yes they are amazing.
There are three versions to choose from, one for sensitive skin, one for oily skin and one for reactive skin. I have oily skin but I've been using all three and they've all been working equally good. As well as cleansing my skin they get rid of all traces of makeup there is to be seen. They are definitely up there with my favourite cleansing water Bioderma. Only a little is needed on a cotton pad to remove all my makeup.

In each bottle you get 200ml of product, considering these micellar cost €15.50 they are pretty amazing value and really affordable.

The Lo Down - Liz Earle Well Being range

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Last week I was lucky enough to win a competition on the Ireland AM Facebook page. The prize was some lovely gifts from the Liz Earle Wellbeing range which I'm not too familiar with to be honest. I'm a big fan of the Liz Earle skincare range I'm already going to buy one of her sets with the Cleanse & Polish, Skin Tonic and Moisturiser, I'm in love with these products and they were one of the first skincare brands I tried when I started blogging which wasn't today or yesterday.
So back to the wonderful prizes that I won, I got a beautiful piece from the Liz Earle Wellbeing jewellery line which is so pretty I love it. It's called the Wild Rose bracelet and it's so delicate, I think it would work well with any outfit to be honest. It comes beautifully packaged in a sleek black box, this would be such a nice gift from someone dear to your heart. I haven't worn it just yet but I definitely will. I might even treat myself to a necklace from the collection in the future.

Next up I received the Liz Earle Well Being magazine, I actually never heard of this before now and it's jam packed with so much information. This magazine retails for €7 so it is on the pricier side of things but it's full of great content. Again it's split into sections and you know I love that. There's also a really good beauty section which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Lastly I received a signed copy of the Liz Earle Well Being Yearbook and I was sooo excited about this I can't put it into words. This is such a beautiful book that is layed out into sections on food and beauty, I find the beauty sections so informative. I'm definitely going to try out some of the recipes and do a blog post with pictures showing you all what I made. I think that would go down a treat I know I love foodie posts anyways. I love the cover on this book it's just so pretty and will make a really nice coffee table book aswell I think. This is the first wellbeing yearbook and I seriously hope they bring out more cause I know I'll be picking it up for sure. It retails for £25 which is pretty good for a book like this as it's so big and full of lovely things.

I was so over the moon that I won this prize it really made my week last week. I really recommend checking out Liz Earle Skincare products and her Wellbeing range, there both amazing.

The Lo Down - Mane 'N Tail Shampoo & Conditioner

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I like to keep my hair in tip top condition all the time. I have pretty thick hair but I can have a pretty sensitive scalp so I have to watch what haircare I use.

I've been using Mane 'N Tail products recently, a brand I'm new to but like alot. The shampoo and conditioner I've been using is called their Body Shampoo and their Texturising  & Moisturising Conditioner and I've been using this stuff a hell of alot. Once you scrub your hair with both products it leaves it look fresh and squeaky clean plus so shiny just the way I like it. This stuff also smells so amazing!

I like haircare that hydrates my hair aswell as thickens it and this haircare duo does just that. I'm used their Detangler for ages now to keep my unruly hair at bay. You can check out that review here.

These products retail for around the €15 mark which is pretty good for haircare products that you need to keep your hair looking good and healthy. I'm definitely going to be on the look out for more products from this brand.

The Lo Down - Flormar Illuminating Makeup Primer

Hey Guys and Dolls,

I like a good primer to prevent my makeup from slipping and sliding throughout the day. I used a couple of primers over the years some good some bad. Recently I've been using the Flormar Illuminating Primer and I'm a big fan.
This stuff costs €9.95 so it fall into the budget brand category so it's pretty affordable which is always good news. I use one pump for my whole face and it sits really well under my makeup plus it smells amazing. As you only need a pump this product will last for ages. Flormar is a hard brand to get a hold of I haven't seen it in too many stores out where I live so I bought this online.

I do really like this primer as it's amazing and so affordable I'd definitely recommend it.

The Lo Down - Today's Simple Makeup Look

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Today I kept my makeup look nice and simple. I used minimal makeup products as I was getting eyelash extensions so I didn't want to wear too much. I will be doing a post about my eyelash extensions soon don't worry but yes they look amazing. I love them!
I didn't put on any mascara for obvious reasons as it would just be coming off once the eyelash extensions were being put on. I went to Araya Beauty in Leopardstown, it's such a relaxing environment and I enjoyed every minute of my treatment. Of course my eyelashes look amazing I really like them alot.

So back to what I wore on my face today. I started off with Flormar Illuminating Primer. If you haven't tried this stuff already it's unreal and leaves your skin glowing which obviously everyone wants from a good primer I know I do. This product cost about €10 which isn't too bad at all. Next up I used Rimmel Match Perfection foundation in the shade Ivory. I'm quite fond of this foundation it has a nice bit of coverage with a natural finish which is exactly what everyone wants right? Sometimes Boots have pretty good deals on Rimmel makeup so definitely keep an eye out. For concealer I used Too Faced Born This Way concealer in the shade Fair. I actually have two shades of this concealer but I do think Fair suits me alot better than Light at this time of year. If you want to see my thoughts on this product you can check out my full review here.

Lastly on my lips I used the new Yves Saint Laurent Tint in Balm which is such a lovely lip product. It's quickly becoming my favourite lip balm, I can't get enough of it at all. It's so hydrating on the lips and perfect for on the go cause your never going to make a mess with this one that's for sure. I actually reviewed this product earlier on today if you want to check it out here.
So that's my makeup look for today, I know pretty simple isn't it? I love these sort of makeup looks for chilled out days when you don't want to be putting too much makeup on.

The Lo Down - My Tattoos

Hey Guys and Doll,

I like tattoos, I feel like every one has a story to tell. I didn't get one until a couple of years ago when I started experiencing my mental health issues. I waited a while to get one as I always thought they would be very painful but I was wrong.

I now have two tattoos, a star behind my ear and a saying, Ohana from the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch on my wrist. I love them both lots. I got them done in Wildcat Ink in St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. I like getting my ink done there.
Both of my tattoos took less than an hour to complete and cost €60-€80. I'd definitely recommend researching what tattoo you want to get wisely. The last thing you want to do is to wake up in a couple of years time not liking what you got and thinking what the world you were up to all those years ago. A obvious one one is to not scrub the tattoo with water for a week or two after getting it done. Lastly  always apply some Tattoo Goo which you can get in your tattoo parlour or vaseline to your tattoo to help the healing process and to keep the colour vibrant.
I'm looking into getting two tattoos next week and I'm soo excited. I'm thinking about getting the moon and a sun symbol on both my arms. They're going to be pretty small so I can keep them covered. I also want to get a robin in the future as they always remind me of my Aunty Kate that passed away when I see one I always think of her.

I'm happy how both my tattoos turned out. I hope my next two tattoos are just as good.

The Lo Down - Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Hi guys and dolls,

For the next month starting from today I've decided to do a blog post everyday. This will consist of reviews, fitness updates and hauls to name a few. I've decided to call this series the Lo down as my nickname given to me by my seven year old nephew when he was just about two years old was Aunty LoLo which kinda stuck ever since. Just about everyone calls me that now including my boyfriend Daragh who might be doing a post for you guys during this series showcasing his favourite aftershaves. I think it's a good idea when you have a boyfriend like mine that you don't know what to buy for sometimes so maybe that will help you guys out, well I hope it does anyway. So back to the blogpost at hand, my first Lo Down is going to be on the much coveted Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. I missed out on this the first time around so when I seen it was being re-released I of course without a shadow of a doubt had to get my hands on it asap. So lets get started if you want to read about my views and opinions on this lovely product keep on reading.
I purchased my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette at the beginning of January off the Debenhams website. I'm always happy with the service from them so when I decide to buy a beauty item and they stock it, it's definitely my go to. The item is usually shipped within a week and it's packaged very well so to be honest you can't really go wrong at all.
I got the palette quite promptly. Debenhams must have a lot of stock as it hasn't sold out yet on the website which is a good sign this time around as when it first launched in 2016 this palette was like gold dust and you couldn't get your hands on it for love nor money. Unless you decided to go down the aul Ebay route but I wasn't to keen in handing out a €100 for a palette I could get for €47 who would like unless your crazy or minted, one or the other.
The Sweet Peach palette this time around was released with a to die for collection. The collection itself contains gorgeous scented (peach of course) lip glosses in a fab range of colours which I can see myself and lots of other people rocking over the Spring and Summer months. It also contains a blush and a highlighting blush palette, these two products already have my name on them that's for sure and I'm definitely going to pick them up when they launch on Debenhams website. From what I've seen online review wise, all the range gets a big thumbs up so I'm happy to part with some of my hard earned money to get them or hopefully possibly a well deserved 27th birthday present "Daragh hint hint are you reading this?"
So the palette itself is in my eyes beautiful and definitely a must have! It has eighteen shades in a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes. They are sooo unbelievably wearable and I've been using them day and night. I've been getting nothing but compliments on my eye looks which of course is always a good thing and puts the confidence at a high. In all my recent Instagram eye looks I have been using this palette so if you want to check them out you can here! My favourite shadows in the palette are  Luscious and Peach Pit as they work so well together to create a gorgeous glam smokey eye. Perfect for day or night! Can I just say this palette smells amazing just like a sweet peach (see what I did there?). I also love the little smiling sweet peach emoji on the packaging. AND we can't not mention the packaging. It keeps in tune with the rest of the Too Faced Chocolate bar palette, it's a gorgeous ombre effect going from light peach to coral.

All in all I genuinely have to give this palette two big thumbs up, for €47 you get an amazing range of shadows so as they say there's something for everyone in this. I know some bloggers weren't impressed in some of the reviews on YouTube but as they say you can't please everyone. I do sincerely think this palette has a good mix of shades that would take you from Spring to Winter. It's just so versatile and pigmented I think it would be a great addition to just about anyones makeup bag. I have to say this is my favourite palette from the Too Faced range followed closely by the Semi Sweet Chocolate bar palette which I'm going to do a post on in the coming week or so. If chocolate browns or nudes are more your thing definitely keep an eye out for that post which will be coming soon.

What do you think of this palette? Would it be your favourite out of the Too Faced eyeshadow range?
