Dr Jackson's 01 Skin Cream

I'm here with a new skincare product that has made its way into my everyday routine. 01 Skin Cream* is one of three products from Dr Jackson's Natural skincare range. With a name like #1 you'd expect amazing things. I'd never heard of this brand before and wasn't at all familiar with their products so when I was asked did I want to meet the man behind the brand I jumped at the opportunity.

I've been using this product mostly as a night cream and post shower when my face is a little bit on the dehydrated side. This cream is very rich so it did take a little bit for it to sink in, that's why I prefer it as a night cream. Once it does it leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.The product contains a SPF20 which is always good to hear. It's shocking the amount of times that I forget to put sunscreen on. Even if the sun is not out shining brightly, it's still up there hiding behind the clouds which shows how  important it is to protect your skin. 01 Skin Cream is also unscented which will be music to the ears for most people as I know products with strong scents tend to be unfavoured. Being a student the one thing that may stop me from repurchasing this in the near future is the price. The 30ml  jar retails for €50 which is a bit over my limit at present. This face cream is lasting for ages though, it doesn't look like I'll be finished it anytime soon. I only need the smallest amount as it is quite thick, hoping this jar will keep me going for another month or so. Another aspect of this product that I'm on the side lines about is the packaging. Don't get me wrong I love how it's plain and lets the product inside to the talking, but if I dropped this is in my room I'd be scared that it would smash. This is also the travel sized version and I don't feel like its too practical to cart around. I do think it looks pretty and it fits in really nicely with everything on my dressing table.

All the products in the range are completely natural which is always good to know. Dr Jackson himself is a Pharmacognosist (what a mouthful) in short this is the study of medicines from natural products. Some of the extracts used in their products e.g Kigelia and Baobab etc, I'd never heard of before so I felt like I was getting a lesson myself. Kigelia is said to leave the face blemish free and is used by tribal women in Sub Saharan Africa. While Baobab helps eases damaged/dry skin plus improves the skin tone and elasticity. Dr Jackson's website is bursting with information so if you want to read up on the background of the brand and the other products in the range you should check it out. I found it very interesting! I'm surprised I hadn't heard about the two of these already on this side of the pond. I'm sure they'll take off this year cause they really do work wonders on the skin.

Random Bits and Pieces for my Room

Having a average size room like mine means if you don't clean it regularly it ends up looking quite a mess. I had a massive clearout recently, first the clothes went followed swiftly by lots of makeup products I haven't been getting much use out of. Both went to good homes, the latter going to my friends who couldn't be happier. Now that my room is looking all spruced up and clutter free, I've been looking out for nice unusual bits to put on empty shelves. If you know where to look it's easy to find nice things, I figured this out quite fast. I bought most of the stuff in this post in Meadows & Byrne and Moss Cottage. The latter is one of my favourite shops to go to, there are always gorgeous one off vintage bits which I love.

I've been going through a bit of a phase where I just buy things when I like the look of them. I may not know what I'm going to do with them at the time of purchase but in the end I always find some use for them. That can be said for two out of the four purchases, on the bottom left hand side you can see the set of five mini vintage glasses. At €14.95 for the whole lot, it wasn't the worst price imaginable. When I seen them at first in Moss Cottage I enquired about the "five egg cups", I was told to my embarrassment they were infact shot glasses. Can you tell I literally never drink? Again I bought the pink and orange glasses on a whim but I know what I'll be using these for. I was thinking of maybe putting them on my bedside to store my lipbalms and eyecreams I use at night. The other two items in this picture were bought in Meadows & Byrne in Dun Laoighre, I had never been to this shop previously but I'll be certainly going back again soon. I wanted to buy a pretty notebook to jot blog stuff in and I thought this one would be perfect. For €4.95 I couldn't really go wrong, it has lined paper also which is a must for me. For some reason I can never write on plain old blank paper, it just doesn't feel right. The Avoca soap is the odd one out, I didn't really need it to be perfectly honest. Paddy was telling me how nice it smelt the whole time I was in the shop, of course in the end I bought. I wasn't too happy that it was the same price as the notebook.

Here are some storage pieces I bought a while ago now. I just thought I'd include them in the post to show you what I've been using them for. In the top pictures are two jars I got in Moss Cottage, I actually picked up two more larger jars as they as are so handy to store stuff. I've been putting products that I'm using constantly at the moment (Revlon Kissable Balm Stains) in these and also bits that I'm hoping to review soon. My favourite purchase for a long time has been this gorgeous shelf from Urban Outfitters. The minute I seen it I fell in love, I knew it would look perfect in my room and fit in nicely with everything. I've been using it to store my mini Laura Mercier Body Souffles and random perfumes. I'm glad I purchased this gem, it has definitely made more space on my shelves while still looking neat and tidy.

A Little Gem in Dundrum!!

Last week I was walking through Dundrum when my Mom spotted a gorgeous little shop. Moss Cottage is a newly opened vintage shop, it has such a homely feel when you walk through the door.

Jen Cleary, the lovely owner was ever so helpful and kind. There is everything you could want in the shop from vintage cups to makeup bags, there is sure to be something for everybody. Having only opened two weeks ago, Moss Cottage is going to be very popular I can tell.

After browsing through what was on offer I purchased these goodies...

 

 

Lily Flame Tin Candle

I've never seen Lily Flame tinned candles before in other shops. After smelling quite a few Fairy Dust was my favourite. Fairy Dust has a warm powdery scent which I immediately fell in love with. This looks so pretty on my bedside table and I'm definitely going to purchase more in the future. I just don't know what scent to go for next.

 

 

The Handmade Soap Co. Body Butter With Grapefruit & May Chang
This body butter contains essential oils of Grapefruit & May Chang which gives it a gorgeous scent. The smell reminds me of Lush's Lemon Flutter which is a favourite of mine. The Handmade Soap Co. Body Butter is expensive at €22.95 but it does get you 200ml of product which is sure to last for ages. I love the packaging of this product as it has such a vintage feel. It's also a 100% natural and handmade in Ireland which you don't see alot of. I think I'll have to try their lip balms and shower gels next.

I really love Moss Cottage and I'm sure going to pay another visit very soon. I think it brings something special to the heart of Dundrum away from the hustle and bustle of the Town Centre.
